1979 made-for-TV movie about a teenage girl who seems to have everything going for her; good grades and plenty of friends but is under immense pressure from her parents to succeed academically, something that sends her mental health on a downward spiral which culminates in her attempting suicide via overdose when she confesses her mental turmoil to her mother only to be told she has no reason to be unhappy. While she recovers from her suicide attempt, her parents have to come to grips with what they've done to their daughter's mental health. Starring Linda Purl, who researched her role in this movie by talking to counsellors, suicide attempt survivors, and parents who had lost their children to suicide. After this movie aired she received numerous letters from teenagers who had been considering ending it all but changed their minds due to this movie. Also starring Shirley Jones, Murray Hamilton, Tony Lo Bianco, and Grant Goodeve.
