Hello: Yes I know this is the car database but I'd bet someone knows what that strange half plane half helicopter is in Hitchcock's 39 Steps? It is only on screen for a moment but long enough for some aviation history buff to name it.

It's called an autogyro, which is considered the predecessor of the modern helicopter. I don't know what model was used in the film, though.

Timings added for all vehicles.

An excellent film for the 1930s plus some nice touches by Hitchcock make it really stand out.
