It was a semi-remake, written by the writer/director/stunt coordinator of the original films. "Bandit" was originally a pilot for a potential TV series, and instead became a series of TV movies. Really, apart from the title, the fact that a character called "the Bandit" leads police on car chases in a fast black car, and portraying cops as idiots who wreck in silly ways, it has very little to do with the original films. |
