![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() This travelogue was created and presented in two parts by Norman E. Schley, a filmmaker based in Waukesha, Wisconsin. This film is presented silently, but Schley often showed his films in front of live audiences, and provided simultaneous narration. Other versions appeared on TV with narration and music. This film shows a trip to the Pacific NW from Chicago, and covers tourist attractions, natural scenery, and everyday city shots from large and small cities along the way. The 2nd part features footage from the 1962 World’s Fair, which was held in Seattle and for which the Space Needle was built. This event gives the date of this film but most part of the rest of shots seems coming from late 1950s footage. Part 1: Chicago, Minneapolis, Glacier National Park, Spokane & Seattle. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wd4gUBXs7DE Part 2: Seattle World Fair, Portland, San Francisco, Yosemite National Park, San Simeon, Los Angeles. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FEgOcQImRtY |

San Simeon is the area with Hearst Castle. The view from the Neptune pool is one of the best views in the country. It's briefly in the background as a Roman residence in Spartacus (1960). It was also in the music video G.U.Y. by Lady Gaga. Filming seems to be pretty restricted. |
