How many of these AMG racing Mercs were there? Minichamps do lots of different liveries in 1:43 and 1:18 scale - including yellow ones as well - which race was this livery? |

Oh, it's not the original, it's a repro: http://www.spiegel.de/auto/aktuell/0,1518,415796,00.html If I've understand it correctly, there was indeed only one single car. The original was bought by the French company Matra - for using it as a test-vehicle for jet fighter-wheels and -suspensions! It was the only car, which could reach a jet fighter's start-speed... -- Last edit: 2010-07-31 16:52:03 |

6.8 racing engine, not 6.3 - number plate gives a clue. Livery and #35 match Heyer/Schickentanz, 1971 Spa 24 hours, 2nd place. Private entry but AMG supported. Very good Minichamps 1:43 model #400 713495. Excellent race footage at http://soenarko.amplify.com/2009/10/13/spa-24-hours-1971/ - brief glimpses of a Moskvitch, Citroen SM, cows grazing beside the track and a man watching the race by leaning out of his living room window next to the track. Edit: replica built 2006. -- Last edit: 2012-01-26 18:32:44 |

Oh, good job... A company I was working for was asked to take care of the "Rote Sau 2006" and also transport the car from the AMG HQ to a secret location in Germany about __ years ago, which is why we (the Sau & me) met various times. And you know what? I can't even prove it because apparently I didn't take a single picture of this car! Now, how cool is that? Edit: Wrong! Here are two pictures, taken by me in the showroom at AMG HQ in 2010. ![]() -- Last edit: 2023-07-24 19:18:46 |
