Looking at it I think you are right about it being an SS II, but the 1934 to 1936 model, and I think that those headlights are add-ons, a pair of Lucas P100s like those would probably have cost most of the price of an SS II.

The one in John's link had cool "grilles" protecting the headlamps, since they're in a rather unprotected mounting situation.

yes, S.S. II, but I do not know if Jaguar name appears somewhere as the "II" with Jaguar name are listed "II 3½ Litre Jaguar", I do not know if it applies here.

No, IIRC the Jaguar model name only applied to certain models, mostly saloons (although some authorities apply it to the S.S.100, but I don't think that's correct). This would be too old to bear the name.
