I've come across references that the Imp was sold in Scandinavian countries as the Sunbeam 900, but no other information eg which countries? when? which Imp versions? Anybody know anything? Did it for instance match the periods and countries when the Avenger was sold simply as (Sunbeam or Chrysler?) 1250/1300/1500/1600? -- Last edit: 2011-02-06 02:00:30 |

This looks deluxe spec (not Sport), so 1966+ for Sunbeam export badging. |

According to 'Stora Bilboken' (The Great Car Book) 1970 and 1971 Sunbeam branded only two cars in Sweden with this body and the cheapest first; Sunbeam Imp Sport and Sunbeam Stiletto. English price were £560 for Sunbeam Imp Sport and £620 for Sunbeam Stiletto. No Swedish price noted, which means they were only sold on special order. Does this make it easier for our friend dsl? |

Thanks. I'm sure this is a deluxe (no side chrome strip) not a Sport. The bonnet edge badge means 1966 (when Sunbeam export branding started) until Oct 1968 when facelifted with new panel badging (as blue deluxe in /vehicle_416605-Sunbeam-Avenger-1970.html and /vehicle_99958-Sunbeam-Imp-1969.html ; Sport had horizontal silver trim bar across front panel after this facelift as /vehicle_110381-Sunbeam-Imp-Sport-1969.html ). But the Sunbeam 900 question remains open - if it did happen I suspect only from about 1974-ish until all Imps stopped 1976. |

At last I've found one fleeting reference - a Finnish Sunbeam 900 finished 23rd on the 1970 1000 Lakes rally. Does not affect this entry, but wanted to register the fact in case it is useful in future. |
