There has been a LOT of confusion in other places as to what model this car is. I have a model of the car and it says 240D. |

Look here: /vehicle_18099-Fiat-128-1972.html ;the car is different, maybe a 230.5 or a 240D? |

Bond steals General Orlov's car. The tyres are shredded when he goes over some spikes, so he puts the car on the railway track and goes after the train.![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

No, it's the same car. And for sure a W108, 250 S or so. Definetely no 230.4, 230.6 (there was no 230.5, Mercedes never had 5-cylinder-engines) or a 240 D, because they are from the W114/115-series. |

The flag instead of the Mercedes-star is really amazing ![]() |

Let's not guess the engine sizes of Mercs, if there's no badge on the boot lid then leave it blank. Before this it was listed as a 280SE. -- Last edit: 2008-10-10 22:25:46 |

Well it is not always guessing if there is no badge, sometimes it can be identified more or less correctly, still better than nothing as model name. But as Ingo said, several models are possible in this case. -- Last edit: 2008-10-10 22:34:26 |

By all the visible details ( front grille, wheelcovers, door mirror, etc. ) it's a 1968+ 280 S or SE. |

I love how there's always some chilled out dude sunbathing, fishing, reading a newspaper or otherwise just relaxing before some Bond-related incident turns his world upside down. The classic example of this usually has said chilled out dude looking at a bottle of something he's been drinking, as if what's just happened is somehow related to the contents of the bottle. |

When they were shooting the scene where Bond was climbing on the side of the carriage, Roger Moore's stunt double was severely injured when he hit a concrete stanchion on the side of the railway line, despite being injured, the stunt double still managed to do the stunt. -- Last edit: 2019-08-13 16:33:28 |

This is a longgg delay for a response as I only noticed the comment now, but the model you have is probably the Corgi version in 1/43 scale? It is basically a reissue of a Corgi casting introduced around 1975 / 76 in civilian, police, fire chief, and taxi variations for years. Definitely a stalwart of the Corgi line. So it really made sense to just use the similiar(-ish looking / somewhat?) 240D already in the Corgi mold archives than tool up a 280S for this tie-in from the early 2000s. I knew it wasn't the same model, but for me, close enough. |
