Mercedes-Benz 200/200D/230 Universal 1966-67. It was built by Mercedes in their Belgian assembly company IMA, and was hence an official sales offering during both years. |

Pic taken at a different spot in the same place of the previous one. Another M-B Ponton taxi can be seen on the left. |

I'm not convinced this is a I.M.A. conversion, but the work of a different coachbuilder. Note the shallower angle of the C-pillar, and the lack of the prominently framed rear side glass. The tailgate, tailgate glass, and basic rubber window gasket is also completely unlike the more polished I.M.A. Universals, and the D-pillar is slightly further back on the car as well. Have to say the steeper C-pillar is fetching though, along with the extra length created by the long side glass. EDIT: See the comments by Ingvar, Miguel, and Chris in this Curbside Classic thread - this scene was shot in Portugal and the conversion is assumed to have been done there as well. Definitely not an IMA: Link to "www.curbsideclassic.com" -- Last edit: 2021-11-14 18:32:55 |
