I think dark bumpers appeared later (78/79?). Earlier models usually had light grey bumpers. |

You're indeed right. 1978 italian commercial: https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/xkgAAOSwoahcvJki/s-l1600.jpg 1979: https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/kz0AAOxyPLpRfA8S/s-l300.jpg By googling, I believe the change occurred in late 1978.. -- Last edit: 2021-02-21 13:11:55 |

Were black bumpers something to do with particular versions, similar to what Renault did on the 5?? I've got a solitary Glass's comment for black bumpers on the July 78 Safrane limited edition based on new 14 GTL, but I guess was a wider application. |

I tried once and haven't been able to found any explanation why some of them (not all!) had black bumpers in late 70s - I mean the regular trim levels, not special editions - like the mentioned "Safrane". Same was with R5. What's "worse" it is not only case of Renault, as Chrysler-Simca did it similarly. In late 1970s some regular 1307-09 started to have black bumpers next to usual grey ones, but I've never seen any info. about such extra option. |
