Nice find of the picture Gamer, it would have been difficult to pinpoint the year without it. 244 is the correct name for a 1976. Volvo started this format for the 1967 144 where the first digit was for the series, second for the number of cylinders and the last for the number of doors. With the introduction of the 760 in 1982 the number of doors were dropped from the model name and the rest of the models (240, 260, 340 and 360) followed suit for the 1983 MY. Conclusion: 1975-1982 = 244 1983-1993 = 240 |
