This is definitely a 6 cylinder, Vantage, DBS
Chasis No. DBS/5234/R Eng No. 400/3831/SVB
It was a works demonstrator, & special engine built in the experimental department,
One of two cars used in the film... This was registered as GKX8G and was used for all the external shots,
The other car was used for the internal scenes, with cameras being set up and mounted on the side of the vehicle.

ben68 wrote It seems to be a V8, not a 6 cyl.

The V8 was first used in 1969 so it could be either. The V8 had a new grill and the mirrors where located further back on the later cars. This Looks like a 6 cyl.

A new Bond (in the form of George Lazenby) and a new Aston Martin, the DBS. We don't see any real "gadgets" but we see one custom feature, the glove compartment holds a dismantled rifle (the pieces fit into the felt moulding). Bond uses the telescopic sighting to watch Tracy (Diana Rigg) as she walks along the beach and into sea, then Bond drives onto the beach and rescues her from the water.

Although not used in any big action sequences the Aston Martin is driven by Bond in various scenes including the ending where the car is decorated with flowers for his wedding to Tracy.

Registration GKX8G doesn't appear on the DVLA database, but G-reg suffix means 1968-69.

Are we sure this is a Vantage?

Does it have the black Vantage badge on the side vents, like this one? Link to "upload.wikimedia.org"

@G-Mann - you do find such innocent sounding questions to ask..... Vantage-ish may be a better description. http://www.dbsvantage.com/en/pages/films-and-tv/ohmss.html seems happy to include it. http://www.amoc.org/forum/index.php?topic=20512.5;wap2 has many twists and turns in its 3 pages:
1] "The DBS used in the film were not Vantages and didn't have Vantage badges on them in the film. Two cars featured in the 1969 James Bond movie, On Her Majesty's Secret Service, DBS/5234/R GKX8G and DBS/5109/R FBH207G, were both fitted with a /SVB spec. engine built up in the experimental department. Like the /VA spec. of early DB6 Vantages they had the Super Vantage head with 9.4:1 compression, DB4GT exhaust cams on the inlet side, GT valves, modified valve timing but different jets in Weber 45DCOE carburetors. The slow running jets were modified by hand with a hole drilled through the mid-centre of the jet." Which sounds like a non-Vantage but with a Vantage-plus spec engine - see top comment here about a special works engine.
2] "Vantage side emblem: I could swear that somewhere along the line I saw a photo in which the GKX 8G car had those side Vantage emblems. I think it was on a road test with John Bolster, in a sourcebook." Comment from the owner of another DBS which has been restored as replica of GKX 8G. Suggests Autosport were given the car - presumably by factory - to road test as if it were a normal Vantage. The road test issue seems to have been 12 Sept 1969 - Link to "www.ebay.ie" so after filming?

I'll go and get some popcorn ....

I appreciate the research you've done ;) I couldn't remember this being listed as a Vantage and didn't notice ZIG's comment at the top, I thought someone had just renamed this but I didn't know who, and I wanted to know if there was any evidence for it. From what you've said it sounds like it's not really a Vantage but a specially modified version. But for now I'm not going to commit to saying yes or no to this being listed as a Vantage, I'll have a think about it, but at least I know it's not a bog standard model now.
