No, this was weeks before the times of change had begun. Until early autumn 1989 it was still agony all around there. The first incidences of the final collapse happened in late summer, but abroad:

 Naja, im Mai 1989 - zwei Monate nach der Erstausstrahlung - gab es die ersten Proteste gegen die Regierung, da die Wahl zum wiederholten Mal gefälscht wurde...Ich sag nur "Nie genug vom Wahlbetrug!"

Im März durften auch die ersten Ausländer in der DDR wählen gehen.
