Local assembly started Nov 1970 as 12 TL - first ones had LHD wiper pattern as here until mid-71, and apparently a 1250cc engine due to "a Government rule to comply with local assembly plan regulations which required a 25% engine capacity difference to any other engine in that manufacturer’s range. Therefore, all publicity and road tests for these early 12s refer to the car having a 1250cc motor, the bore being reduced to 71.9mm." from Link to "www.aussiefrogs.com" |
