ingo, these are very tough van's there's a lot of them in my city which are being used as illegal taxis, they transport people in the remote areas of the suburbs where no legal bus lines are found, people call them the "Hachara_حشرة in Arabic" and it means "THE INSECTS" in English ![]() ![]() -- Last edit: 2016-02-02 12:32:06 |

@Raji: this popularity in Northern Africa is the reason (beside a very active fan-scene over here), why their prices arte still quite high. I know them, too - 25 years ago, at my military service, my job was to drive them ![]() As since the 80ies the Bundeswehr strictly used Diesel-vehicles, the 8-seaters were the incredible lame 55hp-Diesel-version - top speed 103 km/h. We had only one early aircooled left - but our Master Sergant never let us drive with it. Once I tried to make a traffic lights speed race with a /vehicle.php?id=735083 - no chance at all... The Double Cabins were a bit faster with 70hp. Experienced T3-drivers (also T2 and LT I-drivers) got a special habit to disembark: put the hand on the wheel arch (ellbow showing outside, finger showing inside), and then you lift the body slightly upwards while a simultaneous rotating motion. It's something like swimming or bicycling: you dont' unlearn it ![]() But you must not do that in other Vans! Once I did that in a T4 - and fell headfirst face plant ![]() |

This is very awesome, i really started loving these incredible Van's, i think they were also used by the Algerian military and other security sectors (Police, Gendarmerie ...), ingo i will try my best to get you some pictures of the illegal T3 taxis that i told you about. |

Are they becoming expensive in Algeria, too? In Germany one of the favourite versions for the VW-freaks are the T3 from the Bundesgrenzschutz (border patrol police), as they have the sliding doors on both sides plus the (normally incredible expensive) large sunroof. |

Not really expensive for the T3 normal versions, and i guess the most wanted rare models here are the Westfalia campers which i think they wouldn't go over the top of 10000$ at it best. |
