Very interesting unit ID.....and not the one you think!!! 2/68 Armor just happens to have been an actual unit? And it happens that this unit was one of the larger units at Smith Kaserne,Baumholder,Rheinland-Pfaltz? (I lived in Baumholder twice, but we weren't on Smith.....Neubrucke both tours) And guess what sat out in front of their HQ.....a Sherman!! And it was a runner!!!!(They used it in parades) Could it be the very same one??? (It's now in a static dispay at another unit I am told,at Kaiserslautern. 2/68 was deactivated a few years back.)(Adding this, because I forgot earlier? This Tank also has the 'Silver Lion' insignia, which was the mascot of the unit which kept it out front.....so this might well -be- this same Tank!) -- Last edit: 2016-01-22 01:40:45 |
