Would it not be considered a Tradesman van?? |

In 1979 and 1980 Dodge did not use the Tradesman name. The cargo versions were called "Dodge Van", and that is what the badge on the door said. The passenger versions were still called Sportsman. And no, they were not just called "Van". You can check for yourself here: Link to "oldcarbrochures.org" Link to "oldcarbrochures.org" ![]() |

They hide the truck brochures under corporate name rather than brand, so you have to look under Chrysler Trucks for Dodge and GM Trucks for Chevy and GMC. |

I don't think they were meant to be 'Dodge Dodge Van'. If you look on the last pages of the links provided above, you will find under specifications only the plain 'Van' is used. So, why the 'Dodge Van' badge on the door, then? Well, just a 'Van' badge on the door wouldn't sell much. (Neither would 'Van' alone in the text pages of the brochure) And, while Chevrolet had their Chevy Van (Chevy short for Chevrolet), I doubt Dodge would sell much if they had called it 'Dodgy Van', would they? |
