Die ab dem Jahre 1908 verkauften benzinelektrischen Fahrzeuge mit Radnabenmotoren fanden vor allem in den Städten dankbare Abnehmer. Das Marienfelder Werk der DMG (Daimler-Motoren-Gesellschaft) produzierte Last- und Biertransportwagen, Müllabfuhr- und andere Kommunalfahrzeuge, Omnibusse für Stadtrundfahrten und vor allem Feuerwehrfahrzeuge. Entwickelt wurde das System des batterie- und dann des benzinelektrischen Antriebes von Ferdinand Porsche für die Firma Lohner in Wien.
