The Volkswagen Golf Mk 1 Cabriolet [Typ 155] remained in production all the way until 1993, and was built by Karmann. Following German tradition not much was fitted as standard (apart from the air in the tyres) in those days, and thus the alloys were usually optional extra. But some kind of hub caps, or wheel embellishers, were always fitted. They didn't last for long as some were lost and some were smashed when someone drove into a kerb, or otherwise replaced them with hiddeous alloys by some youth with more money than taste. (Strange that many believe they can "improve" the styling of cars, when in the reality they ruin form that bright people with plenty of experiences have come up with after lots of trial and error.) -- Last edit: 2015-02-17 19:41:59
