Location is Washington, DC, near the intersection of Maryland Avenue NE and Constitution Avenue NE, looking southwest down Maryland Avenue. That tiny sapling on the left is now a mature tree with roots destroying the sidewalk. The United States Capitol is in the background, the dome surrounded by scaffolding for the 1958-1960 restoration. If you came to Washington today, you would see them erecting scaffolding for a new restoration.
