While still based on the long-running International 3800, the IC featured a larger windshield and redesigned drivers compartment. To distinguish it from other International-based school buses, the IC wore its own grille design and hood badging. After 2000, AmTran became International Truck and Bus, with the school buses being badged as Internationals. For 2002, International Truck and Bus was changed to IC Corporation.
