This part of the movie was set in the US so it is probably a US car.

Looks like a 1932 Ford V8 roadster to me...

In fact I saw this film as a child, and I swear there's a 32 Ford roadster in it...

Ford V8 Convertible Cabriolet DeLuxe of 1932 ( Model 18 , body style 68).This could be had with either trunk or rumble seat. It is not the same body style as the Sport Coupe that was often called roadster.1932 Ford hub caps were quite large and had the V8 logo embossed in them and on DeLuxe models the hubs were also chromed , which may give this impression of unusually large hubcaps on the movie picture..This car has an accessory sidemount

Sorry Pilou,

The car is a Roadster and not a Cabriolet. Look at the Windsheild posts. That is the clue.
