From the Wikipedia page on 'Saab Sonett': An interesting side note is that the local SAAB dealership in Czechoslovakia opened in 1962 and run by the race driver Zdenek Treybal. Apart from selling Saab 96 he also managed to sell two Sonett V4s. One to a race driver in Prague. The other to AZNP (Automobilové Závody Národní Podnik) in Mladá Boleslav in 1968. AZNP used the Sonett as the basis of a prototype for Škoda Auto called the Škoda 1100 GT. From the doors and rear it is almost identical with the Sonett, but the front is inspired by Ferrari Dino. |

!!!!! According to the book "Premiéry nadšení" from 1989, which goes over czechoslovak racing cars from mid 30s onwards, this should actually be something called Škoda 130 B6. Diffferent axles and drivetrain, built in 1976 by Miloš Vágner. He bought from ÚVMV the moulds for the body. I got the info from some picture of the book, but I plan on getting it, so I can drop a scan here sometime later. |

As promised, here's the scan![]() Accompaniying text for it: By amending the FIA sporting rulebook, with the effect from 1976, there was a partial modification for the racing cars of former category B5, now falling into a category B6. One of the first cars of this category was built by Miloš Vágner from Bělá pod Bezdězem. From the Bureau for developement of motor cars (thats what the abbrevation of ÚVMV stands for) he bought unutilised moulds for the body of ÚVMV 1100 GT coupé and after partial modifications he applied them on the floorpan of Š 120 S. (not the Typ 742 model, rather a racing version of the 100/110 series cars) Engine positioned beind the rear axle was of the Š 130 RS type, and the gearbox was of Š 120 S type, with the final gear ratio of 4.6:1. Induced water radiator (<-- náporový chladič, dunno how to translate it correctly) was placed up front. Front axle came from Š 130 RS, and the back one from Š 120 S. Both had Bilstein shock absorbers. On alloy wheels Škoda mr. Vágner used tires Barum 165 - 13 for front, and Dunlop 225/60 - 13 for back. This car was built by Miloš Vágner on his own, for about a year. In the 1976 season he managd to get to the 2nd power-rating class in hillclimb races, which made him eligible for the czech championship. In this series he managed to get several good results, but as he was a member of technical support of the Škoda factory team driver John Haughland from Norway, he was absent from alot of race starts and thus he didnt manage to get further into the czechoslovakian championship. |
