"Archi87" is right about the year and model (1949, "Series 62" sedan). |

Just a few comments about the buses in this picture; From the lower right traveling to the background the first is a 1947 GM TDH 4507 operated by Surface Transportation System of New York (note the rare 'BACKING'milk glass fixture just to the right of the stop light on the left engine hatch - a novelty for its time, when the bus was shifted to reverse it blinked and a buzzer sounded simultaneously. The second bus up on the right traveling away from the camera is a 1950 GM TDH 4509 operated for the New York City Omnibus Corporation division of the Chicago based Omnibus Corporation. Several cars further up is a 1950 Flxible Clipper operated by the Carey Transportaion Company of New York and it is making curbside pick-ups for the airports - this was prior to the opening of the East Side Airline Terminal in the mid fifties. Coming toward us in the opposite direction are two more Surface 4507's |

Wouldn't you love to go back in time as a spirit for just a few moments and walk down that street? |
