No, not built here. From http://www.mbaup.com.au/ : "Freightliner trucks are fully imported to Australia from manufacturing plants in North America." Note that Freightliners were built in Australia from 1989-1994, but were fully imported from 1995 onwards. The Argosy was first introduced in December 1999 in Australia, and is due to be discontinued in 2020. The one in the main picture above is the original 1999-2006 (pre-"Evolution") model, which sold at a rate of 375 per year in Australia. Edit: apparently introduced in Australia in 2000 not 1999, according to this site: https://www.tradetrucks.com.au/25th-anniversary-freightliner-argosy-revealed/. Also, online data tells me that there no 1999 Argosys registered in Australia. This truck has a new format, 2004+ NSW plate on it, so it could be 2004+... -- Last edit: 2024-02-23 16:35:47 |
