Studebaker 1947-1949 ( certainly not later because it has the flat taillights) but model hard to tell here |

I say Champion(styled by Raymond Loewy, that had styled also Coke's typical bottle)'cause had the characteristic turret-shaped roof with wraparound rear wiew glass |

Model is hard to determine here.It seems a 4-door sedan but it may be a Champion or a Commander , Land Cruisers were longer. Would need details to fix model/Model year.If I see correctly , the rear bumper seems to be of right rather than of the wraparound type and this would also eliminate 1949 as model year, but it is really too small and fuzzy to be affirmative |

Roofline was the same on Champions and Commanders. Agreed rear bumper narrows it to '47 or '48. Too blurry and distant to tell more but looks like sedan lines/rear window, not coupe. Raymond Loewey did not style these Studebakers. While it was done under the auspices of his studio, credit for the final design rests with Virgil Exner (yes, the same Exner of later Mopar fame!). Loewy was credited publicly since his studio had the styling contract. -- Last edit: 2010-02-19 02:04:04 |

With DidierF pulling this forward, I took another look at it. Now believe we are seeing Commander style rear bumper guards from '48/'49 and since the bumper does not appear wrapped, will change the listing to 1948 Commander. |
