This looks like the step-van used in Corky Romano. Bizarrely, Google has never heard of the AM General Postmaster. Are you sure that's right? |

I think the link IS to an AM General Postmaster. I also saw some other "unknown" vans that might be one as well. Incidentally, I se the Scion xB and the Ford Econoline next to it. -- Last edit: 2006-11-15 22:46:27 |

You are sure that it is a real make? I do not find much info about that... I would say that the guy just used Americal General instead of AM General... |

Here's another AM General Postmaster that somebody mistook for a Chevy Step-Van: /vehicle.php?id=42895 |

hmm.. right-hand drive... we should import one to over here and get Westwood to work on it... |

It was most likely a delivery van as many of these in the US have right hand drive to allow easy access to mailboxes. I've also seen some right hand cars and pickup trucks used by newspaper carriers in rural areas. |

This is an Am General FJ-8A or an FJ-8C. The FJ-8A was built mid 1973 and 1974 on a very limited basis for the US post office(maybe 5,000). The exact same model (FJ-8C) was again reissued in 1983 and 1984. I believe it has a 232 Straight 6 under the hood. There is very little to find online about these as there are very few still around. If you would like to buy one, I know of a couple for sale, you can typically find the 73-74 version for around $500-1200 and the 83-84 version for $2000+. For similar small style vans, try the Jeep Fleetvan (1962-67 or so) or the Grumman Olson Kubvan. (1982-85) A newer model would be the UMC Aeromate by Utilimaster, these were built in 1990 and 91 and only a little bigger than the others I've spoke of. |

For anyone who cares. As posted before I knew it was either a 70's or 80's version of the FJ-8. This one is definately the 80's version, the FJ-8C not the FJ-8A as listed above. The only way to establish it from this pic is because the cas cap is recessed into the body panel whereas the FJ-8A version the gas cap was horizontal and stuck out of the truck. (I know this because I now own the 70's version of this truck.) |
