I think it's because you can't see the grille bars that were more prominent on the 1973, but I would have to agree with 1973 over 1974 for a couple reasons. The 1973 has a grille badge and no hood ornament. 1974 have a center split in the middle grille section, no grille badge and has a hood ornament.
