2000-2002 model, due to the black grille (vs. the silver grille of 1999 models) and hidden radio antenna, which was moved from the front fender to the rear of the vehicle and embedded into the rear quarter-panel window glass. In XLT trim, with automatic ControlTrac four-wheel drive, which (at that time) could only send 50 percent of the engine’s torque to the front wheels. The 4x4 system was uprated in 2002 for the 2003 model year, allowing it to bias all 100 percent of the engine’s torque to the front wheels, temporarily turning the Expedition into a front-wheel drive, if needed. |
