Hrrmmphh, my fellow Martin has renovated his homepage: http://icmesa.com/tinhunter/ , but the pics of the other great Belgian junkyard (still existing http://www.carlovanlingen.be/ , but the 3000 classic cars were all crushed in 2000 due political/enviromental reasons) are now missing :/
I'm kicking Martin since years, that he shall digitalize the pics, he made there in 1998/1999, but until now had hadn't found the time for that. There were Volga's too, also Scaldias, Sapos and Wartburgs. Mrtin took over 3000 pics back then, me only 50 or so (I'd been there in 1999, too).

Volga/Wolga was assembled in Belgium in the 1960s, with Peugeot engines, but sales were poor here.

"In de jaren zestig werd de Volga ook in België geassembleerd. In de Belgische Volga's bouwde men steeds dieselmotoren, eerst motoren van Perkins, later Rover en uiteindelijk Indenor (Peugeot)."

Engine and gearbox being crucial parts >> http://www.volga.nl/belgischevolga.htm

It says the GAZ factory initially produced a special model for Belgium, the GAZ M21, that was discontinued in 1962 due to low volume and replaced with the normal export version. They arrived in Antwerp for assembly at C.I.V.A., importer Sobimpex in Brussels.
