Toyota Land Cruiser? |

The grille and indicators plus the rounded shape of the fender is doing a good job of ruling out a FJ40. |

I wonder what it is then? a Land Rover or a Nissan Patrol? |

Not a Land Rover. Don't think it is a Patrol. I thought about Daihatsu but that seems to be wrong as well. So that's two of us really wondering what it is. ![]() |

They're on pedestals that raise them barely off the ground. Odd. |

I thought about Suzuki Jimmy, but its not that. The headlights, the grill, and the vent on the hood look VERY close to this BAW/Beijing BJ-212 http://ned.ronet.ru/0/1975%20Beijing%20BJ-212.jpg but the fenders come out farther and drop down lower, and the body is to short. Any more ideas? |

OK, I may have got it: Austin Gipsy? Link to "bringatrailer.com" but I REALLY need some help and suggestions from the early-SUV experts ![]() |

No, not a Gipsy, nothing matches, apart from the grille - vaguely and coincidentially, that is. |

I still wonder what it is, though ![]() ![]() |

As far as I know, there is no short wheelbase version of the BJ 212, since it's just a UAZ 469 with different front styling. Perhaps it's a "made for movie" left over from some other film. |

This is my thought, too. |
tom11 ◊ 2012-04-27 02:40 |
I wouldn't say that. the front end may be slightly modified from something else, but its unlikely that it was built from scratch. |
