I was thinking Bentley R-type dhc or similar, but thumb of bloke with gun looks fixed roof.

I'd say Mk.VI or R-type. Could be a FHC (not unheard of) or Sedanca de Ville.

It's RHD and looks a fabric roof from the frontal shots. But that's all I can usefully say, apart from a Sedanca de Ville body of some sort seems the only way of matching all exterior and interior shots. Even then, would an SdV have such a pathetic rear window slit? It's not really surprising they got ambushed ....

What little I can see of it, I'd opt for a 1948/9 Bentley Mark VI Drop Head Coupé by Gurney Nutting/James Young (Gurney Nutting was being shut down having been bought by James Young)
