If it were a Yugo. IMHO Zastava had different names for their FIAT-licensed cars. |

Zastava 128 Skala at home(since 1988,former was Zastava 128 only),renamed Yugo Zastava 128 in early Nineties(still with 1976-1984 Fiat 128 CL body,but Y-U-G-O spelled in chrome letters atop centre-chrome rib of grille,in lieu of small centre-grille ZASTAVA small tag);was known in Egypt(since 1988),with that same body and grille,as El-Nasr 128 GLS PS That car had got a strange South-American liaison:seems,in fact,when in Argentina was been ending the production of local-assembled Fiat 128 CL--renamed in 1978 128 Europa--part of Yugoslav-assembled 1.1 and 1.3 lt.OHC powerplants of Zastava 101 came shipped from Yugoslavia at Cordoba's plant in Argentina(where 128 cars were assembled,since 1971,by Fiat-Concord,which production was then switched at Fiat Uruguay's plants in Montevideo into 1st half of '80s,but if Argentinian plant would keep still in production it as Fiat Europa CL--with 5-speeds,gearbox never fit by Italian 128 CL version--until 1991 circa),'cause of no-enough locally-assembled amount of engines to power these Argentinian-made Fiat 128 CL's. |
