A Rover SD1 of the first generation, so 1976-1981.

Aus location. My guess would be local assembly but I'm not sure what SD1 were made locally and when.

This car looks rather good for it's age.

1981+ due to silver mirrors. More information here: https://www.roversd1australia.com/index.php/history/

No mention of Australian assembly at all, so we can assume fully imported from UK.

Agreed no Aus SD1 assembly. There was a recent Corgi Vanguards VA09012 Rover SD1 3500 V8 Vanden Plas, Australian Specification, Opaline Green, with UK A24 WOE plates (a very nicely done model) which came with this informative blurb:

"The SD1 modelled was an Australian specification example built on 8 August 1983 and retained for a Rover manager. It still features its smaller 4-bolt export specification plenum, has the 8.13:1 lower compression ratio engine used in emission controlled markets and the original specification non-vented front brake discs. At that time UK market fuel injected cars were not available with an automatic, but export market cars were, and senior managers could choose cars 'off the line' with this desirable specification. The 'OE' Birmingham number plate was common on press office, racing and prototype SD1s.

It was bought by Barrie Curtis in 1985 and initially, the Curtis family didn't know its history but Australia bound SD1s never featured an EFi badge and, as a car-mad 14 year old, son Matt couldn't understand this so persuaded his Dad to order one from Mann Egerton, Nottingham; it's still on the car. Later, when they couldn't get it to run warm enough in winter they realised it was fitted with an Australian-market thermostat. Australian-market SD1 figures, correct for this car and different from a UK car:
Engine: 3528cc OHV V8
Power: 142bhp@5000rpm
Torque: 181Lb.ft@3000rpm
Maximum speed: 178kmh
0-100kmh: 11.4secs
Kerb weight: 1480kg
."
