Albert Brooks' character here drives a 912, not a 911. Greater Los Angeles--at least when this film was made--had the world's densest population of P-cars BY FAR. 912s were reasonably priced, well-preserved "entry-level" transport embraced by appreciative throngs, both poseurs and non-. The character here was too much of a schnorrer, and insufficiently virile, to drive a six-cylinder car :p

Brooks has arguably the finest-calibrated sense for character/vehicle appropriateness in Hollywood. Witness the striver/adman of "Lost in America," (1985) yearning to trade up from his c.1983 SAAB Turbo to an M-B of some variety. I believe a 300D is featured later in the film. . .

For 1991's "Defending Your Life" the opening sequence features the lead character picking up his new 325i cabrio at the BMW store. The sales rep leads him outside, exclaiming with awe "There she is. . .the 750!!" Brooks'character, instantly emasculated, regards his new ragtop (red I believe), and sighs "It makes my car look like a TURD."

Note to the board: Why are the above two films not covered here?

It will take time before all movies are covered by the site (if that can even be done some day). Even if the site is probably the most complete in its kind, for sure many movies are missing, even some important ones.
