Something boxy from the early 80ies. My suggestion: Ford Taunus [TC2], or its Cortina-derivate. |

In a Thai movie?... |

Why not? There were a plenty of European cars in Thailand, also many, which were never exported to other South or Southwest Asian countries. A good example is /movie.php?id=71807 Not today any more. Now it's nearly all Asian stuff, except some Benzes and BMWs. |

ingo you just contradicted yourself, you said there could be European cars there then said they aren't there in modern times. |

Agree very Cortina/Taunus, especially the rear window. Local assembly Cortina?? |

@93montero: why contradicted? It's my impression, that in in the past, up to the late 80ies ca., there were more European cars to see in Thai movies. This movie is from 2004, yes, but the car (Taunus?) is for sure from the 80ies. I've been in Thailand in November 2004, and I haven't seen nearly none older European cars, there. The only place with some, I remember, was a private garage nearby Chiang Mai, where a bunch of VW 1303, Typ2 Station Wagons and two Golf I were parked. Otherwise all the new and common cars there, except a few new premium models as Benzes or so, were all Asian origin. |

@dsl: I don't know from which plant the Thai market was sourced, but they were indeed assembled in Taiwan at Ford Lio Ho which still exists today. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_Lio_Ho |

Taiwan is not particularly close to Thailand, and they drive on opposite sides of the road. I would imagine that Cortinas in Thailand were either imported from the UK or perhaps assembled in Thailand from CKD kits. -- Last edit: 2011-05-29 14:08:39 |

A silver SUV at the right side, looks like a Honda CR-V. |

I always thought it was a mk4 cortina but something wasnt quite right about it , now i see its the scuttle panel and air intake that are wrong as it seems to be a separate panel and its grille is too big and not central. also the bonnet edge is too straight. and the screen is wrong shape. A Nissan Bluebird maybe? |
