I would suggest that a Frenchman who knows a good car when he sees one has bought a 1919+ Armstrong-Siddeley 30. The town car coachwork may be French, from the style.

That sounds good, and indeed my first idea was A-S as well. But in issue #60 of the (very serious) French car magazine Automobilia (janvier-février 2003) I found these pictures:

Obviously the same car as shown here in Entr'acte. The writer of the article thinks (and explains why he does so) that these are Farman prototypes, though he isn't sure about it and he asks the magazine readers if someone might have more info. I don't have the complete series of Automobilia, and I don't know if there has been an answer or more info about these cars...

Automobiles Farman, Billancourt, Seine. Not very far from the centre of Paris, and Farman did make their cars with the steering wheel on the right. However, the thumbnails show a differently shaped radiator, and the petrol filler in the centre of the scuttle in front of the windscreen, which was an A-S feature, is missing on the attachment and (I think)on the thumbnails. Both companies were involved with the early aircraft industry, and could have exchanged information. The total output of Farman Automobiles between 1920 and 1931 was 120 cars, A-S made 2,700 30s alone, plus 2,500 18s, and 5,000 20s.

Finally, I must add that I have never seen a picture of a 1920s A-S with spoked wheels, either wire or artillery, and a close look at the Entr\'acte picture shows what could possibly be the colour of the road surface showing through the left hand front wheel of the car.
