This was Brandon's (Jason Priestly) third or fourth car, if you count the Chevette he and Brenda had in the pilot. It followed the beater 1979 Mercury Cougar he drove in the first season and the 1965 Ford Mustang he bought in the second season. This one was said to be a gift from his parents when they moved to Hong Kong - presumably Ford wanted to product-place the new Mustang in the show.
