This page is for the short bodied Rumpler Tropfen-Auto of which three or four can be seen in the background. These are cars of the first (1921/22) or possibly second series (1922/23) which used a six cylinder Siemens *Fächermotor* (I haven't found a good translation. One dictionary gives it as 'double-V-engine', which is okay for a four cylinger engine of this type. Imagine it as half a radial engine.) The third version used a more conventional 4 cylinder in-line Benz engine. |

The first series of Rumbler Cars used a Siemens 6 Cyl. W-Motor W because it was a double v. Baureihe 1921/22: Sechszylinder-Siemens-W-Motor, 2.310 cm³, 35 PS, Höchstgeschwindigkeit 95 km/h, Dreigang-Schaltung Baureihe 1922/23: Sechszylinder-Siemens-W-Motor, 2.580 cm³, 35 PS, Höchstgeschwindigkeit 105 km/h, Dreigang-Schaltung Baureihe 1924/25: Vierzylinder-Benz-Reihenmotor, 2.610 cm³, 50 PS, Höchstgeschwindigkeit 115 km/h, Dreigang-Schaltung http://www.bungartz.nl/siemauto_d.html Today Volkswagen VW (!) uses a W12 engine in ist Phaeton http://dubfoto.com/albums/userpics/10003/w12_1.jpg and had built a W8 in the 2002 Passat. |
