This appears to be a 1950 Mercury because it has a 50 grill. |

This car was known as Hell's Chariot, it was 'played' by two Mercs a 1949 and a 1950, both started out as coupes and had their roofs cut off for the movie steel bars were welded across the rear seat area for strengthening. |

Pretty interesting paint job. that would be a horrible family car. "hay son! (dad drives up to garage and son is right next to the car and then "slash", right in the knee cap!). |

This car (or one of the two) was later used as background dressing in the film, Used Cars. There's a picture of it in that movie on this site. |

I just saw this on cars.tv. It is said to be the last surviving car from the film. Link to "www.mecum.com" |

^ It's not the last surviving car from the film. The original red Greased Lightning movie car is now displayed at Volo Auto Museum of Volo, Illinois. |
