this is an Autoette Golfmobile, First introduced in 1948 There were many different versions of this vehicle, they were built in long beach, California by Royce Seevers. They were resold by Wayne Manufacturing Co. they were killed off in the 1970's. I read it off of 3 wheelers.com. |

I'm not convinced. I did an image search for Autoette, and none of them matched this one. http://www.3wheelers.com/autoette.html |

CougerTim the red one in your link looked close enough to the one in the main image. |

Close enough only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades. The cowl on this one isn't as tall and note how the bodysides don't rise above the level of the seat bottom. It might yet be an Autoette, but if it is it's not the same model as the red one. |

Anybody consider the possibility that both this and the one in "That Girl" might be Mobilettes, rather than Autoettes? http://www.flickr.com/photos/11487454@N02/4037735597/in/photostream |

Hi Group - The two cars in question are both Model G-180 (deluxe Electric Golfer) electric cars produced by the Electric Car Co. of California, Inc. of Long Beach, California. Note that the \"Mod Squad\" car has been repaired at some point and the front suspension installed backwards (a common mistake actually). The company is best known for their line of \"Electric Shoppers\" which were produced from 1951 - 1962. The Electric Shopper line was discontinued after the owners of Electric Car Co. of California purchased Electric Car Sales & Service (Makers of the Mobilette) and absorbed its production, however they continued to make golf cars based on this design. For \"Heinkelgirl\" - The Autoette Golfmobile was a completely different animal. The The Autoette Golfmobile can be distinguished by its distinctive notched front valance which allowed the car to sit lower to the ground and still have enough suspension travel for a golf course. The information on the 3-wheelers.com site is actually incorrect as far as the history of Autoette. Its a long story but suffice it to say that the names and dates are not accurate. I write a blog about these cars at http://autoette.blogspot.com and I am also writing a book on the history of these and related small electric cars which will hopefully be out this year. Cheers, Larry Fisher, SAH |

Is it correct to use "Electric Car Co" as make name? It was the name of the company, but sometimes they use something else (shorter) as actual make. |
