this show is a "head to head battle" between two teams that each modify a 240z, then drag race the cars, with the winning team taking home both cars. though throughout the show they claim that this is a 1971 240z (like the other one, which has also been listed)... this car is actually a 1973 model (based on the series II badges in conjunction with the one year only 1973 bumper style). when this car is repainted prior to race day, they paint it factory original series I color code #919 "sunshine yellow" rather than the "lime yellow" (color code #112) that would have been available instead by 1973. they're careful to word the narration so that the viewer knows that sunshine yellow was an original Z color, and that according to the VIN this car was originally yellow, but NOT that 919 was the original color of this particular car. it's pretty funny, if you listen carefully to them as they step around the issue. |
