Early production U.S. 1970 3500S with chain-drive right-hand steering and roll cage installed by Cinema Vehicle Services. This is one of two cars used for the scene. It survived the jump with minor subframe damage. Tough little car! |

I remember when I was little trying figure what the heck this thing was, I actually thought it was some sort of Mitsubishi when I saw the logo on the grill! LOL! but my father later told me it was a Rover. |

Interesting attempts at anglicisation: wrong font and colour for rear number (license) plate, "GB" sticker, failure to remove federal running lights, UK old style phone box and "Beware - Cattle" sign. Presumably filmed in the US because it's sunny... |

I've read that this scene was filmed on Route 154 (also known as the San Marcos Pass) near Santa Barbara, but when I looked at it on street view, it does NOT match the road where they filmed this scene. The road in this movie seems more narrow and windier than Route 154. They must've made a mistake. |

This scene was shot in the late-'90s. There would've been roadwork done between then and now. |

I looked at Street View, and some portions of this appeared to be filmed on Latigo Canyon Road, near Malibu, but when the car plunges over the edge, I don't know specifically where they filmed that portion. -- Last edit: 2021-01-14 17:38:47 |
