At one time Brits taking their cars to France used to paint their headlights with translucent yellow paint ... horrible stuff to get off, particularly if you used halogen bulbs ![]() |

@rjluna2: It was never neccessary or mandatory to change parts of your car, when you want to travel in other European countries. Perhaps, if you want to stay there for a longer time, but definetely just for travelling. The only thing, which has to be done -but nowadays it's nearly totally forgotten, if I compared it with the past- is, that you have to put a sticker or a black piece of paper on the triangle for assymetric light of the front lamp-lense, when you are going from a RHD country to a LHD-country and in the other direction. I cannot remember, when I saw the last British car with that sticker over here. And neither "continental" cars in the UK with it. I must admit, that I never had put it on our cars too, when we made our Scotland-trips. |

I always used a couple of pieces of black PVC insulating tape. It always seemed to me courteous not to dazzle oncoming traffic. BTW I always suspected that yellow paint on the headlights was a snob thing in the UK - "I've taken my car to France!" -- Last edit: 2009-11-23 11:17:23 |

One thing I did noticed on this vehicle, ingo, this one has sealed beam making this as universal as our sealed beam compare to the British market. So, this headlight is not really asymmetric as modern British headlights. About the topic about the headlights, the sealed beam like we have from 1940 to 1986 that were mandatory in our country were used in England, Japan, Australia and early Sweden until recently. -- Last edit: 2009-11-23 19:05:25 |
