Looks like a Ninety-Eight to me. Comments? |

Yes, a Ninety-Eight. |

The grille is awfully blurry, but I believe it is a '79. |

My father used to have one of these. A '78 model. Best Oldsmobile ever. |

I don't know. The only real way to tell is the grille bar pattern and it is really a bit too blurry to tell for sure. It vaguely looks to me like there are prominent vertical members which would indicate '79. Can we get a clearer photo? |

Brochure photo of a '79 Ninety-Eight. Link to "www.oldcarbrochures.com" Brochure photo of a '78 Ninety-Eight. Link to "www.oldcarbrochures.com" Brochure photo of a '77 Ninety-Eight. Link to "www.oldcarbrochures.com" Compare these brochure photos. Note the heavy chrome over the grille on the '77 and '78 which is somewhat thinner on the '79. Also, note the '78 has the nameplate in the grille and the car in the photo does not seem to have one. And I still think I can see heavier vertical grille members. Would definitely go with 1979. -- Last edit: 2009-10-02 18:24:46 |

Actually, you can tell by the head light set up too. '78's had the same arrangements as '77s, except the '78's had wrap around turn signals. And '79's had one piece front parking lights, instead of two. And I can't tell by this picture if this Olds has one piece parking lights, or two piece. |

I think per the photos and what DT pointed out, 1977 can be definitely be eliminated. I feel 1979, per my above comments and brochue photos. -- Last edit: 2009-10-02 18:27:04 |

Agreed. No Olds lettering on the grill. '79 model. |
