I don't think it's a Volvo 240, by that time could be a 144 in the case (look at the rear bumper with vertical pads and the square number plate) but I think it's something more british, such as a Humber Super Snipe |

Yes maroon in background is 1965+ Humber - either Hawk S4 or Super Snipe S5. The blue Triumph is a 1970+ 2.5Pi. |
