..again..make or model.? |

It is not a BTR60. The middle wheels are too far apart. So far I don't know what it is. |

Mowag Piranha II |

Sorry, it is not the Mowag Piranha II 8x8 either. Link to "www.mowag.ch" It looks more like an APC built onto a truck chassis, perhaps something like a predecessor to the URAL-5323-20 or KamAZ 6350. http://www.rbs.ru/vttv/99/polygon/e/kamaz.htm http://www.rbs.ru/vttv/99/firms/kamaz/e-6350.htm |

I 'd rather say that most of the soviet military stuff in this film is fake "Made for Movie". It was made in 1984, when the cold war was still rather cold - a few years before Ronnie Reagan and Michail Sergeyevitch Gorbachev started talking. At that time most socialist countries would't have sold tanks to the West. Especially not for movies and not such ones that weren't heavily outdated. So I suspect the movie prop guys did their best to make some scrap look as "soviet" as possible. |

fake BT series russian armoured car built on obsolete 8x8 chassis of the US XM series GMC/Reo/Ford truck |
◊ 2006-04-22 16:00 |
So how do we list that? "GMC XM-Series" ? |
◊ 2006-04-22 17:03 |
It is possible that it is based on the XM chassis. To my knowledge it was designed and first produced by Reo. As a name for this vehicle I would suggest 'Made for Movie based on Reo XM'. |

Why "made for movie", since we know what's the base? At first "made for movie" was for unidentifiable vehicles, or that were made from nothing |
◊ 2006-04-22 17:12 |
You are right, so better 'Reo XM modified for movie'. But that it really is the XM chassis is not certain. |
