It looks like a special edition of a Vauxhall FE, possibly a VX 2300 GLS Link to "commons.wikimedia.org" Some of the upper class Vauxhalls had a smaller rear window and vinyl roof, but I haven't found an exact match yet. |

One quirk about the Avenger GLS - originally launched by Hillman as 1500 in Oct 72 with normal vinyl roof (that one is a very rare Dealer Special edition in Damson - every Rootes dealer got one for their showroom display for the GLS launch, but the colour was never offered in the normal range. Many dealers sold them off to eager buyers after a few months). When 1600 upgrade appeared in Oct 73, the vinyl roof was extended to cover the top of the boot, which continued through the 1977 Chrysler facelift (as seen in main above). Then after the GLS ended in 79, the same format was used on lesser Avengers with vinyl roofs. |
