Do you know if any British-made parts went into the Dodge 1500? I've read that Paykans still had a significant amount of parts imported from the UK in the 1980s. |

Can't answer that directly, but the tooling for the South American production sites (also Brazil, Venezuela, Uruguay) was supplied from Britain so these Avenger offshoots closely followed UK template and the 76 facelift, plus there were performance versions as low-fat Avenger Tiger cousins, but some oily bits were locally specific because of local factors such as 76 octane petrol. So maybe not much shipment of UK parts, but the tooling meant parts were UK format. Paykans always had high UK parts content - later phases started incorporating parts from Chrysler Alpine (lights, interior etc) until the Peugeot take-over and then Linwood closures when Peugeot oily bits started to replace remnant Hunter mechanicals, but these were probably supplied from Ryton's phase of building Peugeots rather than France. Then when Ryton closed UK supply would have ceased, but by this time Iran was building its own Peugeots. |
