Actually, Moskvitch is a car brand, not manufacturer name. Manufacturer was named MZMA,and change name to AZLK in 1969 |

That's true, we have some other same cases with others makes like VAZ Zhiguli, etc... in my documents, there are named Moskvitch from 1947 till 1968, then presented as AZLK Moskvitch after 1969 (retrofit on the moscow factory, and building a new factory in Ijvesk with agreements of Renault) |

"Car brand" is not the same as "make" ? The fact that the company that makes it has another name is not a problem, like for the Renault Espace witch was manufactured by Matra. -- Last edit: 2006-01-25 20:04:46 |

Although pre-'69 models always was mentioned and advertised as "Moskvitch",3-4 monts ago I've seen 407, and it's hood ornament says "MZMA". post-'69 cars was named, for instance, AZLK-2140 "Moskvitch". Confused enough? |

On www.azlk.ru there is a big "Москвич" ("Moskvitch") but since I do not understand russian I can't get much more info ![]() On Wikipedia they list the car as if they were from Moskvitch brand: http://en.wikipedia.com/wiki/Moskvitch But if you go to the Aleko page for example, you see that one of the name of the car was AZLK-2141. But since in the same list there is also "Aleko" alone, was it labelled "Moskvitch AZLK-2141" ? |

Aleko was a export name for AZLK-2141. In Russia, it was named Moskvitch too |
